Casa De Montecristo Casa De Montecristo

LET’S SEE WHAT CHATGPT HAS TO SAY!!!!

“CDM Cigars is an online cigar boutique and the digital extension of the Casa de Montecristo Cigar Lounge, primarily serving the Chicago area. This boutique is renowned for offering a diverse selection of rare, aged, and vintage cigars. It also provides a broad range of regular production cigar lines at competitive online prices.”

Now for me LOL

For part 2 of my mystery sampler series, I went with CDM Cigars, which is really Casa De Montecristo, more known for how nice their lounges are nationwide. I've previously shopped here before, raiding their vintage and rare section for some decent prices on some discontinued and rare cigars, but I never checked out their other areas, like samplers or specials. (Description of their mystery sampler below)

FROM THE WEBSITE..... "This 10-count High-End Premium mystery sampler will blow you away(IT DIDN'T). The value is well over $100, and you might find something that is hard to find and/or something out of our Vintage Room. As with all of our Mystery Samplers, the dice you will be rolling are heavily weighted in your favor. They are all different, so order more than one to get a healthy dose of premium cigars at a huge discount. Free Shipping on orders over $100 as well"

So, after seeing that description, my interest peaked. The total was $106.50 with free shipping, but the discount codes that I had don’t work for the mystery samplers. Shipping was good. I received it in good time, the packaging was on point, and the standard Boveda was included to help the cigars make the trip, which should be mandatory. (QUICK RANT) It's just so appalling at this point that other online retailers don’t include Bovedas or anything AND at this point, I won't even order from them if they don't. (Picture of sampler below)

Is the value over 100 dollars? …Sure! Is it 100 dollars well spent? No. This selection prompted me to think. I wish I could see when they put these together as far as their process…several of the sticks are sticks that only will sell in a lounge, and if they are on sale online, such as the Hoyo De Monterrey, Macanudo, the two H. Uppman (yeah, I got 2 in 1 mystery sampler, kind of a no-no for me), and no offense to their brands, legacy brands outsell boutiques year in and year out, but in my opinion, demographics come into play here as I always see older gentlemen or newer cigar smokers in some of the lounges smoking these brands. The Liga H99 was a good touch as I view this cigar as one of their best (specifically the Toro), and they should expand their Unico line using the H99 as its core, guarded by a Patina Habano and a Regius Exclusivo USA cigar in a bigger ring gauge, which I appreciate since I've had more of their small gauge offerings. While I don’t smoke Rocky Patel (my palate won't allow it), I have given the quarter century to a few locals in Bahrain who enjoyed them, so that’s a win regardless; the Arturo Fuente 858 Natural and My Fathers La Gran Oferta rounded out my choices.

WHAT IS THE VERDICT??

I wouldn’t repurchase the mystery sampler, that's for sure, especially considering the options at that same price from PLENTY of other retailers BUT I didn’t have a bad customer service experience, so I would buy from them again. If you are feeling lucky, you can try them out at the link below and again; I always check their samplers and rare/vintage sections. As always, leave your thoughts in the comments below!
